Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar arrives in Dhaka

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has arrived in Dhaka this morning to finalise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh scheduled for March 26.

A chartered flight carrying the Indian minister landed at the Bangabandhu Airforce Base in Dhaka at 10:00am on Thursday (March 4) where his Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen welcomed him.

Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has come to Dhaka today to discuss Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country. Prime Minister Narendra Mod is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on March 26-27 to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh's independence.

The Indian external affairs minister will hold a bilateral meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart AK Abdul Momen at state guesthouse Padma at 12:00pm and then hold a joint press briefing.

During the meeting, the two ministers will discuss the bilateral relations and the MoUs that are likely to be signed during Indian Prime Minister's visit.

Connectivity, trade, regional cooperation, ways to face economic crisis and challenges caused by coronavirus pandemic and other unresolved issues are also set to be discussed during the meeting.

The Indian external affairs minister is scheduled to return to Delhi this evening.
