Papul jailed for 7 years in Kuwait

A Kuwait court has sentenced Bangladeshi lawmaker Kazi Mohammad Shahid Islam alias Kazi Papul to seven years in jail in a human trafficking and money laundering case.

A Kuwaiti newspaper-Al Rai-published a news item in this regard on Sunday.

According to the report, Papul has been fined 27 lakh and 10 thousand dinars.

The court has also ordered the deportation of Papul after jail terms.

The others sentenced include Kuwait's interior ministry's Assistant Under-Secretary Maj Gen Mazen Al-Jarrah (Seven years) and Nawaf Al-Mutairi (four years). They have also been fined 19 lakh and 70 thousand dinars each.
