The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as a steep pressure gradient persists over the bay.

Besides, the river ports have been asked to hoist cautionary signal number two, according to the met office.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions; at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over southern part of Bangladesh," said a met office release here on Thursday (August 11).

Patuakhali District Meteorological Office Officer-in-Charge Mahbooba Sukhi said that there is a possibility to blow stormy winds in the coastal areas. Air pressure may increase. In the next 72 hours, the water level of rivers and streams may increase further.
