By-polls to Dhaka-5, Naogaon-6 on Saturday

By-polls to two parliamentary constituencies Dhaka-5 and Naogaon-6 will be held on Saturday (17 October).

The by-elections will be held from 9:00am to 5:00pm through electronic voting machines (EVMs).

Election Commission (EC) sources said, all types of preparation have been taken to hold the election properly. The movement of motorcycles, trucks and pickups has been banned for 24 hours from 12 am on Oct 17. Additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert any untoward incidents.

Earlier, the election commission declared the election schedule for the two constituencies on September 3.

EC senior secretary Md Alamgir said, the overall security environment condition is better in the polling areas of Dhaka-5 and Naogaon-6.
