West Indies beat New Zealand by 5 wickets

The West Indies team got a one-sided victory against New Zealand in the ODI match held at Kingston Oval Stadium in Barbados on Wednesday night.

West Indies won the first match of the three-match ODI series on the strength of their bowlers.

Windies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss here and elected to bowl first. New Zealand started well and added 41 runs for the first wicket. From here the Windies bowlers started taking wickets and the entire New Zealand team was all out for 190 runs. Captain Kane Williamson (34) scored the most runs for New Zealand. Among the Windies bowlers, Alzarri Joseph and Akil Hossain got 3-3 and Kevin Sinclair and Yanik Karia got 1-1 wickets. Jason Holder also took 2 wickets here.

Chasing the target of 191 runs, the start of the Windies team was also poor. The Windies team lost the first wicket for 17 runs and the second wicket came by 37 runs. From here Shamra Brooks held one end and brought his team closer to victory. Brooks scored 79 runs off 91 balls. He was also adjudged ‘Player of the Match’. Windies team won this match by 5 wickets.
