4 Kishoreganj Razakars get death penalty

Staff Correspondent: Four people hailing from Kishoreganj have been awarded death penalty and one imprisonment unto death for crimes during 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

 

A three-member panel of International Crimes Tribunal-1 headed by Justice Md. Anwarul Haque delivered the verdict on Tuesday noon.


The tribunal found proof of all the seven charges of mass killing, murder, confinement, torture, arson and looting pressed against them.

 

Gazi Abdul Mannan, Nasiruddin Ahmed, his brother Shamsuddin Ahmed and Hafiz Uddin were awarded death penalty while Azharul Islam was given imprisonment till death.

Shamsuddin is currently in jail. The others were tried in absentia. Seven charges were brought against them including mass killing, murder, confinement, torture, arson and looting committed in their locality in 1971.
