`F` grade NU students get promoted

DHAKA, July 22: To quell the pitch of recent agitations, National University (NU) has decided to promote first year students with a maximum five ‘F’ grades to second year on special consideration.

NU made this announcement through a media statement on Monday.

However, students being promoted must sit for the examinations later and clear them, the statement said.

Earlier, on July 17, NU published the results of honors first year examination of 2011, where a large number of students failed to access in second year.

After the results published, students of the National University hit the streets in protest against its promotion policy.

They alleged that it was responsible for large number of students failing to make it to second year from the first.

They also demanded setting of question papers and evaluation of answer scripts by internal examiners of the university.
