Petition filed seeking Khaleda shown arrested

Staff Correspondent: A petition has been filed seeking BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to be shown arrested in a case filed for patronizing war criminals.

President of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad AB Siddique submitted the petition before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nur Nabi on Wednesday.

The petitioner said the court will give an order after hearing on it.

He said a court issued an arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia five months ago but she did not appear before the court. As she is now in jail, as a result a petition has been filed.

On October 12, a court issued the arrest warrant against Khaleda as she failed to appear before the court even though the court asked her repeatedly to attend hearing.

On November 3, 2016, Siddique filed the case with the court, accusing Khaleda and her late husband and former president Ziaur Rahman of undermining the country's map and national flag.
