Voting ended in three city corporations

Staff Correspondent: Voting for the Dhaka North City Corporation, Dhaka South City Corporation and Chittagong City Corporation was ended at 4:00pm on Tuesday.

The voting was started at 8:00am on the day.

Results will be announced shortly after the vote counting ended.

The results of Dhaka South City Corporation will be announced from Mohanagar Nattaya Mancha in the city, Dhaka North City Corporation results from Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) while the Chittagong City Corporation results from retuning office of M A Aziz stadium complex and gymnasium.

Tuesday has been declared a public holiday in the two major cities of Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, however, stated that she and her party ruling Awami League will accept people’s mandate in the City Corporation polls.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has boycotted the polls in three city corporations terming it a meaningless election.
