Biometric registration to scrap SIMs linked to militancy

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: The State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim said mobile SIMs linked to different types of militancy will be dropped out by the biometric registration system.

She said, "Some 8 crore and 38 thousand of SIMs have been registered through biometric system till Thursday morning. The government has set a target to register 9 to 10 crore SIMs."

The Minister came up with the statement while visiting Kandapara Government Primary School of Tarabo under the district`s Rupganj upazila on Friday noon.

Tarana replied to whether the period of biometric registration will be extended that government will give priority to the people`s opinion. But it must have a deadline. Decision in regard will be taken on April 30."
