BNP`s benefits & weakness in municipality polls

Hasibul Islam Mithun: Elections to 234 municipalities across the country will be held on December 30. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) may join in the upcoming polls where the party has some benefits and weakness.

The local MPs would not be allowed to campaign in support of party candidates. On the contrary, BNP leaders can join in the campaign as most of them are not MP now. And BNP is in better position now than the government candidates.

However, top BNP leaders are staying in jail and others are facing several types of cases. As a result, there is a doubt about the success of BNP in municipality election.  

Besides, BNP is saying as usual that they will not join in the polls if the government does not release their leaders. The people have to wait till December 13 for the final step of BNP.
