Cops are not above law: IGP

Staff Correspondent: Quoting police are not above of law, Inspector General of Police (IGP) A K M Shahidul Haque has said police department will not be responsible if any individual of the department commits crime. The cop who commits crimes must be punished if he is found guilty.

He said many of the police members who were found guilty have faced punishment for committing crimes.

IGP said this while speaking at the Role of administration for expatriates` rights` organised by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) in Sylhet on Saturday.

The police chief said help desk has been set up for expatriates. The activities of the desk is being surveillance from police headquarters.
