Sunny now arrested in dowry case

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has accepted the arrest plea against cricketer Arafat Sunny in a case filed under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Judge SM Rezanur Rahman of Dhaka's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order on Sunday.

Meanwhile Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari rejected the remand plea sought by police in the case and sent him to jail.

Masudur Rahman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mohammadpur Police Station and Investigation officer of the case, appeared Sunny before the court and sought remand after showing him arrested in the case.

On the contrary, defence lawyer M Juwel Ahmed and Muraduzzaman Murad sought bail for Sunny after dismissing the remand plea.


Nasreen Sunlana who claimed to be as Sunny's wife filed the case with Dhaka's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal on February 1, 2017.
