Zero tolerance to extortion in name of cop source

Staff Correspondent: Maruf Hossain Sardar, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) deputy commissioner of its public relation wing said that zero tolerance will be shown against extortion in the name of police source.
The police official made the warning while addressing media at DMP media center in the capital on Saturday noon.
He said that if any one tries to take extortion in name of police source then legal action will be taken against the extortionists.
"Even actions will be taken against the policemen if found involved in any kind of irregularities. DMP will show zero tolerance in this regard," he added.
Following the death of tea seller, he said that three Sub-Inspectors (SI) of Shah Ali Police Station, a Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and Constable have been suspended for the alleged involvement.
Besides, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station declared withdrawn for the sake of investigation, he said.
Earlier, on Thursday, a tea stall owner, who sustained burn injuries after he fell into his burning kerosene stove due to action by a police informant in the city’s Mirpur area on Wednesday night, died.
Later, victim`s daughter filed a case mentioning seven names including a police source.
