Budget deficit to be Tk 20,000cr: Finance Minister

Special Correspondent: Finance Minister AMA Muhith said that the national budget deficit in the 2017-18 fiscal year is likely to be Tk20,000 crore.

The minister made the disclosure while replying to newsmen after a meeting at his secretariat office on Wednesday.

He said about the budget deficit will be Tk 20,000 crore as the new VAT act remained unimplemented. It will be tough to fill the gap. However, an alternative will be set soon.

Decision will be taken discussing with law ministry in this regard, he added.
