Keep away from bribery, urges Land Minister

Secretariat Correspondent: Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif has urged people not practice bribery for any work in land management.

He said, "Keep away from paying bribery. Both the fellows are equal who pay and receive bribery. Corruption will decrease if you do not pay bribery."

The Minister came up with the urge while talking to the reporters after attending Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference at Secretariat on Thursday morning.

He said, "DCs laid bare many problems and crisis related to land management in the conference. We heard their discussions and gave directions to resolve the problems. The directives include stamping out corruption, removing harassment of people and ensuring stern actions against those are involved in corruption."

DCs were also asked to remove grabbers from the lands acquired by the government, the Minister added.

He also said the government is taking measures to ensure easy and smooth land management services through making it digitalized.
