Planning Minister M A Mannan said that he never said to take water hyacinth as food, but urges for research to make it consumable.
He said, “We can urge researchers for research in any subject for welfare of country’s people. I put emphasizes to research in agriculture and other subjects. I urge scientists to research on water hyacinth. I never said to consume it.”
“My statement was distorted and published in media,” he claimed.
The Minister came up with the statement to the reporters after ECNEC in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on Tuesday.
