OC apologises, directive to send Azad to hajj

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has accepted the apology of Akhaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mosharraf Hossain Tarafdar and exempted him after hearing a writ petition.

The court has also directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to send Azad Hossain Bhuiyan to Saudi Arabia for hajj.

The bench of Justice Syed Md Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order on Monday.

Azad Hossain Bhuiyan filed the writ challenging the legality of a police report.

Akhaura OC submitted a police verification report to the Special Branch office, saying that Azad had died. The report was posted on the website of the ministry of religious affairs.
