IU celebrates 42nd founding anniversary

The authorities of Islamic University celebrated its 43rd University Day on the occasion of the 42nd founding anniversary on the campus in Kushtia on Monday amid a festive mood and much enthusiasm.

The day-long celebration included hoisting of the national and university flags, releasing pigeons, procession, cutting cakes, discussion and cultural programmes.

Marking the day, the university vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam, hoisted the national flag while pro-vice-chancellor M Mahbubur Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university’s administration building in the morning.

The vice-chancellor inaugurated the programmes releasing pigeons and balloons in the sky at around 10:30am.

Later, teachers, students, officers and employees brought out a procession led by IU VC from in front of the university’s administration building.

The procession ended in front of Bangla Moncha adjacent to IU Arts’ Building after parading the main roads of the campus.
A cake-cutting ceremony was held there. A discussion programme marking the founding anniversary was held there.

After that, a cultural event participated by teachers and students of different departments was also held.

Among others, IU Treasurer Professor M Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, acting registrar M Ataur Rahman, transport administrator Professor M Anowar Hossain, proctor Professor M Jahangir Hossain, deans and chairpersons of different faculties and departments were present on the occasion.

National flags and university flags were hoisted atop the administrative building and all dormitories in the morning.
