Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, the arms supplier of former superintendent of police (SP) Babul Akter’s wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu murder, has been arrested from Benapole border area.
Members of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested him early Saturday (October 23) while he was fleeing to India.
PBI Inspector (Chattogram Metro Zone) Santosh Chakma, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, confirmed the matter.
According to PBI sources, Ehteshamul Haque Bhola provided the firearms and ammunition for killing Mitu. He had earlier been arrested and jailed for several days. He recently applied for anticipatory bail before the High Court after a re-arrest warrant was issued against him. HC ordered him to surrender to the lower court.
However, Bhola tried to flee the country without surrendering to the lower court. Acting on tip off, PBI conducted a drive and arrested Bhola from Durgapur Bazar Road in Benapole Bazar on the India border.
