Remarks on Bangabandhu mural spark protest in Rajshahi

Derogatory remarks on the mural of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman have sparked huge protests in Rajshahi.

The allegation has been raised against Mayor of Katakhali municipality and Awami League leader Abbas Ali.

On November 21 night, an one minute and 51 seconds video of Mayor Abbas Ali making some derogatory comments on Bangabandhu’s mural went viral on social media.

Local Awami leaders and activists have demanded resignation and punishment to the mayor for his controversial comments.

But, the mayor claimed conspirators and anti-election groups have spread the technologically manipulated video as propaganda against him.

Abbas Ali elected mayor twice with boat symbol. He is also the convener of Poura Awami League and a district committee member.
