Police ask demonstrating students to leave roads

Police asked the demonstrating students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) to leave roads in the capital’s busy Nilkhet.

Talking to the media on Wednesday (February 24) noon, police called upon the students to postpone their demonstration.

Police said they will be forced to take action if the agitating students do not respond to the call.

Ramna Police Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sajjadur Rahman said, “A decision is being taken from the education ministry regarding the ongoing movement of the students of seven-DU affiliated colleges. A notice has already been issued in this regard.”

Earlier in the morning, students of seven colleges affiliated with the Dhaka University (DU) blocked the busy Nilkhet and New Market roads in Dhaka protesting postponement of all ongoing examinations.

The agitating students blocked the road and halted vehicular movement at 9:00am, leading to a massive gridlock in the area.
