Upazila polls: 418 BGB platoons deployed

A total of 418 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed for the first phase of the Upazila Parishad polls, slated to be held on Wednesday (May 8).

BGB Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Tuesday (May 7).

A total of 418 platoons of BGB have been deployed ahead of the Upazila Parishad election across the country following the demand of the local civil administration, he said, adding that several more platoons of BGB have been kept ready.

The BGB will work as a mobile and striking force from May 6 to May 10 to maintain peace and order in the election areas, Shariful Islam further said.
