Gazette today to sack Erfan Salim: LGRD Minister

The government is going to issue a gazette today (Tuesday) to suspend councillor of Dhaka South City Corporation's ward No 30 Erfan Selim temporary as a mobile court sentenced him to one year imprisonment on Monday for the unlawful possession of the walkie-talkies and liquor.

LGED Minister Md Tazul Islam said this while talking to journalists at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

LGD Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said the Local Government City Corporation Act states that if a person is convicted by any court, he will be dismissed from his post.   Erfan Selim will be sacked temporary and after receiving the final report of the investigation he will suspend permanently, the secretary added.

RAB detained Erfan from his father's residence at Devdas Lane of Swarighat in Old Dhaka Monday following a case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station by Lt Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy for assaulting him.

A mobile court of RAB sentenced Erfan and his bodyguard Zahid to one year in jail for possessing illegal walkie-talkies and liquor.
