Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said, some Rohingyas would be relocated to Bhashanchar in the first week of November.

The minister said this while addressing reporters at his office on Thursday (October 29).

He said, the government is adamant in its decision to send one lakh Rohingyas to Bhasanchar. Those who will go to Bhasanchar, will be able to engage in economic activities like fishing, poultry and cattle rearing.

“We heard lots of speech regarding Rohingya repatriations but the reality is found reversed. Three years have passed but no one (Rohingya) returned yet,” he added.

Bangladesh government took the project to relocate 100,000 Rohingyas to Bhashanchar in 2017. The project is titled Ashrayan-3.

120 cluster villages have been built on the island. A total of 1,440 houses were built there.
