Saoda murder: HC commutes death penalty to life term

The High Court (HC) has commuted a man's death penalty to life term in the murder case of Saoda Begum, a student of Barisal University (BU).
The convict is Rusel Matubbar.
A High Court bench of Justice Krishna Debnath and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin passed the order on Monday.
Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain and Advocate Shishir Monir moved for the convict.
The court of Barisal District and Sessions Judge Md Anwarul Haque awarded death penalty to Rusel for murdering female university mate Saoda.
Saoda, a first-year student of accounting, was hacked to death in the city on September 5, 2013 when she was on her way to the campus.
According to the case details, Rusel hacked Saoda to death following an argument over rupture in their relationship.
