President gives assent to 3 bills on SSC-HSC result publication

President Abdul Hamid gave his assent to three bills adopted in the 10th session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.

This information was given from the public relations of the Parliament Secretariat on Monday (January 25).

The bills are related to the publication of results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations.

The three bills are- ‘Intermediate and Secondary Education (Amendment) Bill, 2021’, ‘Bangladesh Technical Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021’ and ‘Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

Earlier on Sunday (January 24), the three amendment bills were passed in the Jatiya Sangsad with an aim to publish the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations without holding examinations.

The amendment bills were passed since it was not possible to hold examinations amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

As per the existing laws, there is no provision to publish the results of the HSC and its equivalent examinations without holding examinations. But in the amendment bills, a provision has been kept to publish results without holding examinations under special circumstances.

Earlier on January 19, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni placed the bills in the House and those were sent to the respective Parliamentary Standing Committee for further examination.
