Protests at Shahbagh over Mushtaq’s death

Leftist organisations demonstrated at Shahbagh intersection on Friday demanding justice for writer Mushtaq Ahmed's death in jail.

Protesters brought out a rally from TSC of Dhaka University and took position at Shahbagh demanding justice for Mushtaq.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mamunur Rashid said additional police have been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.

The left organizations gathered at the TSC of Dhaka University after 11 am. At that time, they said that Mushtaq was killed and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.

General Secretary of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Nasir Uddin blamed the government for Mustaq's death.

“Writer Mushtaq has died in police custody. His death was unnatural and he was killed,” he said.
