Don’t publish photos, identities of rape victims: HC to media

The High Court (HC) has issued an embargo for media on publishing or broadcasting the photos and identities of rape victims, even after the victim’s death.

The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Moniruzzaman passed the order on Monday (March 8) after hearing on writ petition.

Earlier on 19 January, Barrister Mahfuzur Rahman Milon, on behalf of Justice Watch Foundation, filed the writ petition with the High Court seeking its order to restrain the media from publishing and broadcasting the photos and identities of rape victims.
