Corona infection rate exceeds 20 percent

Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said the rate of coronavirus infection has exceeded 20 percent in the country.
He came up with the statement in a virtual briefing over the coronavirus situation of the country on Monday (January 17) afternoon.
Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said, “The coronavirus infection rate is increasing every day. The rate of infection reached 20.88 percent on Monday (January 17).”
He said, “Many are thinking that the infection is increasing because of Omicron, the mostly contagious variant of the coronavirus. But it turns out that in addition to Omicron, Delta infections are also contracting people across the country. Omicron is also spreading in the country.”
He urged all to maintain health guidelines more to protect themselves from various variants of the coronavirus including Delta and Omicron. The DG of DGHS also stressed on avoiding crowds unless there is a special need and wearing masks regularly.
