No chance to take Omicron lightly: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that the coronavirus infection has started increasing again across the country. The infection is on the rise because of our careless movement of our people of all walks of life. It Omicron is taken lightly may cause a big harm.
The Minister said this while speaking at an exchange view meeting over the preparations of private hospital against the alarming infection of the new variant Omicron in the capital on Tuesday (January 25) afternoon.
He said, “Some 70-80 percent of the new cases are being detected of contracting Omicron across the country which is alarming. The government has issued directives to curb Omicron infection. Neither the infection rate nor the death will decrease if people do not follow the directives properly.”
Zahid Maleque said, “The government along with people fought against the Delta variant successfully. Though we had shortage a lot. There was not enough oxygen, beds. Morale and experience of health workers including doctors and nurses had also less. Confidence and courage have increased for all walks of life after overcoming the second wave of the coronavirus. We can now fight against any surge of the pandemic and we have the ability now.”
