`Consolation Award’ in US BNP`s fate after 9 years

The central BNP has adopted a new strategy to strengthen the five groups of BNP in the leadership dispute in the United States.

Without a committee, the United States BNP took part in the struggle with various activities for a long time. Despite playing well for the last 9 years, United States BNP has recently received a 'Consolation Award’ from the central committee.

The full committee has been replaced by the 'committee to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence'. Leaders and activists of the United States BNP including New York are happy to get this temporary committee. The central committee has hinted that the final result will come in the future only if the United States BNP, which is divided into five parts, can work unitedly.

According to a responsible BNP source, last Monday (April 12, 2021) the United States announced the 501-member 'committee to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence' by the central committee.

The committee was announced at a virtual press conference that afternoon by M A Salam, advisor to the BNP chairperson and member secretary of the committee celebrating the golden jubilee of independence on behalf of the BNP.

Leaders and activists gathered at Queen's Palace in Woodside, New York, on the occasion of the announcement of the committee to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence. Former US General Secretary Zillur Rahman Zillu is the convener, former senior vice-president Gias Ahmed is the senior joint convener, former vice-president Sharafat Hossain Babu is the joint convener, former US BNP joint convener Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton is the member secretary and BNP leader Mosharraf  Hossain Sabuj as joint member secretary of 501-member committee was announced.

Anwar Hossain Khokon, the BNP's central co-international affairs secretary and expatriate from the United Kingdom, and Baby Nazneen, an expatriate vocalist from the United States, have been appointed as the chief coordinators and coordinators of the committee.

Senior Joint Convener Gias Ahmed has also been made a member of the Central Committee. It was also informed at the press conference that the presidents and general secretaries of various state committees will be ex-officio joint conveners and joint member secretaries.

At the beginning of the press conference, Anwar Hossain Khokon, BNP Central Co-Secretary for International Affairs, addressed a virtual press conference from the United Kingdom.

He described the background to the formation of the committee in the United States to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence. UK BNP President Abdul Malek attended the virtual press conference.

Meanwhile, new convener Zillur Rahman Zillu, senior joint convener and central member Gias Ahmed, joint convener Sharafat Hossain Babu, member secretary Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Milton, former US BNP treasurer Jasim Bhuiyan, New York BNP President Habibur Rahman Selim Reza, Juba Dal central leader MA Batin, USA Juba Dal general secretary Abu Saeed Ahmed and others spoke among the local leaders and workers after the announcement of the committee. The speakers pledged to work for the team in unison.

The press conference was attended by a large number of leaders and activists of the United States BNP and its affiliated organizations. Earlier, at the beginning of the press conference, prayers were offered for the recovery of party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The US BNP committee was dissolved about 9 years ago. No convening committee was given. As a result, frustration and quarrel arose among the leaders and workers of the United States BNP. Many leave the activities of the team and concentrate on their own work.

At a joint preparatory meeting held at a restaurant in Jackson Heights, New York on February 14, 2018, the United States BNP announced a new program of vigorous movement to demand the release of Khaleda Zia, a prisoner convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.

At that meeting, the divided United States BNP announced to unite, but in the last three and a half years they have not been able to unite. There is more bitterness within the party on various issues.

On April 12, after receiving the 501-member celebration committee 'golden jubilee of independence 'consolation award’  from the United States BNP, they pledged to work together for the party.

The leaders of the committee to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence of the United States BNP think that there is no alternative to the establishment of a people's government through a free and fair election to overcome the current situation in the country. The responsibility of every patriotic and democratic man is to unite and liberate the democracy of the country by removing the present  government that has been sitting like a stone on the chest of the people of the country.

They said that because the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was afraid, the government had imprisoned her in a false case to implement the blueprint in the next elections. The leaders and activists of the expatriate nationalist party must liberate the country's leader with all their might. So let's build a vocal movement like the leaders and activists of the country to demand her release. We will free Khaleda Zia through the movement.
