2 cops among 4 arrested in snaching case

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Four persons, including two cops have been arrested on charges of committing money-snatching offence.

Police arrested them from Khulna and Satkhira on Wednesday night. Tk six lakh and 55 thousand was also recovered from the two accused cops.

Khulna Superintendent of Police Nizamul Haque Molla confirmed the matter.

The arrestees are - Dumuria Police Station's ASI Abdur Rouf Biswas, constable Nadim, truck driver Monir Sardar and Raju Ghosh.

The arrested truck driver Monir Sardar is the son of Moksed Sardar at Kamalnagar village of Satkhira Sadar upazila and Raju Ghosh is the son of Swapon Ghosh of the old Satkhira village.

Dumuria Police Station sources said trader Golam Rasul alias Liton, son of Abdul Kader Sarder at Nalkura village under Satkhira Sadar Police Station, and his associates were returning home with truck carrying Tk 9 lakh and 15 thousand after selling 22 cows at Khornia hat of Dumuria upazila.  When they reached 500 yards away from the Satkhira Foods of Chuknagar-Khulna road, two people started searching identifing themself as DB men. At one stage, they took away 9 lakh 15 thousand taka from them.

On that day, trader Golam Rasul filed a case with Dumuria police station.
