Two drug traders killed in Khulna gunfight

Staff Correspondent: Two drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Baghmara Bankers field area in Khulna early Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Razu, son of Babul, hailed from Baghmara area, and Manik Sheikh, son of Sultan Sheikh.

Sub-Inspector Shuvendu of Khulna Sadar police station said acting on tip-off, police arrested drug trader Razu and Manik Sheikh around 8:30pm on Tuesday. Later, police went to Baghmara main road area to recovered arms and drugs around 3:00am. Meanwhile, the cohorts of two drug peddlers opened fire aiming police which triggered the gunfight, leaving the two dead on the spot and injured five policemen.

A pipe gun, two rounds of bullets, 150 pieces of Yaba pills, and four lethal weapons were recovered from the spot.

Injured policemen were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
