Gouripur UP chairman arrested

Mymensingh Correspondent: Police arrested Mymensingh's Gouripur upazila parishad chairman Ahmad Tayebur Rahman from a stall adjacent to the upazila parishad office on Tuesday midnight as he was wanted accused in a case filed for subversive activities.

Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive there and arrested Tayebur, also joint convener of Mymensingh (North) district unit of BNP, from a stall around 11:45pm on Tuesday, said Delwar Ahammad, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station.

He said Tayebur is accused in several sabotage cases filed with Mymensingh's Gouripur and Netrokona's Purbadhola police station. He was arrested as an arrest warrant was issued against him in a case of Purbadhola.

Tayebur would be appeared before the district court on Wednesday, he added.
