Man to die for killing wife in Mymensingh

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A Mymensingh court has sentenced a man to death penalty for killing his wife over dowry at Hatileit village of the district's Fulbaria upazila.

Judge Md Helal Uddin of District and Sessions Judge Court and Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal passed the order on Sunday noon.

The death-row convict is Saiful Islam, son of Abdul Motaleb of the village.

The court also fined him Tk 10,000.

According to the case statement, Saiful beat his wife Morzina Khatun, mother of two daughters, demanding two lakh taka as dowry for going abroad on October 10, 2014. At one stage, Morzina died.

Later, Morzina's father filed a murder case in this connection, according to sources.
