Sluice gate breaking: Over 100 villages at risk in Satkhira

Satkhira Correspondent: A connection canal being excavated in an unplanned way in Magura bazar area in Tala upazila of the district, sluice gate of the Kopotakkho River in the area was broken and water of the river entered into at least 20 villages.

A part of Tala-Patkelghata road has already snapped due to sharp flow of river water which may disrupt road communication at any moment. Over a hundred villages feared submerged.

Hearing the news, Advocate Mustafa Lutfullah MP, lawmaker from Satkhira- 1 constituency, visited the spot on Saturday morning.

Villagers alleged that it happened as UP chairman in the area looted money which was allotted to implement the project undertaken to repair the connection canal.
