Banshkhali clash: Tk 3 lakh compensation announced for deceased family each

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mominur Rahman has said that families of the five workers who were killed in the clash with police will be paid Tk 3 lakh each.
He said this in a press briefing after visiting the spot at Banshkhali on Saturday (April 17) afternoon.
In addition, two probe bodies were formed to investigate into the incident. One committee was formed by police while another by the district administration, said Superintendent of Police (SP) in Chattogram, Rashidul Islam.
He further said, “The incident was fueled by a local vested quarter.”
“The issue of workers’ demands has been resolved a lot. Some of the demands were supposed to be discussed today (Saturday). But the workers started demonstration instigated a local vested quarter. They started vandalism and set arson,” he added.
He said, “Police had no alternative, but to take legal action to save some Chinese citizens. A three-member probe body has been formed on behalf of police.”
Chattogram DC Mominur Rahman said, “A five-member probe committee led by additional district magistrate was formed on behalf of the district administration to probe the incident.”
