People are leaving the capital Dhaka to celebrate the Eid with their families. As a result pressure has increased on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway, the gateway to North Bengal.

In the last 24 hours (from 6.00am on Monday to 6.00am on Tuesday), about 41,625 vehicles crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge.  Tk two crore and 56 lakh has been collected as toll. The bridge authority confirmed the matter.

People are returning home in freight trucks, open trucks, pickups, microbuses and private cars but health guidelines are being ignored.

During visit it was seen that no long-route bus was seen as the government has banned long-route bus service.
