Woman stabbed to death by husband in Eid morning

A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband in Shiddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj at a time when the holy Eid-ul-Fitr was being celebrated across the country.

The deceased was identified as Bibi Fatema, wife of auto-rickshaw driver Nurul Amin Sobuj.

Police recovered Fatema’s body from Purbo Nimaikashari village of the upazila on Friday (May 14) morning.

Victim’s son Milon said he found his mother lying dead in the bed with her blood-stained body early in the morning and later informed police about the incident.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shiddhirganj police station, said the body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

It is assumed that Fatema has been killed during the time at night. Her husband has fled the scene since the incident. Police are trying to arrest him, the OC said.
