Journo Rozina lands in Kashimpur jail

Rozina Islam, a senior correspondent of Daily Prothom Alo, has been taken to Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail in a case filed for allegedly removing government documents.
She was taken to the jail around 2:40 pm on Tuesday (May 18).
An official named Hannan who was on duty at the main gate of the jail confirmed the matter.
He said, “Rozina Islam was taken inside the jail. Clothes and other essential materials necessary for Rozina have been taken from her relatives.
However, Jailer Hosne Ara Bithi of Kashimpur Women’s Jail could not answer phone call after several attempts.
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim rejected her remand plea and sent her to jail. The court also fixed May 20 for her bail hearing.
Mentionable, Rozina entered Health Ministry of the Secretariat around 3:30 pm on Monday (May 17) for professional duties. She was confined in the room of Health Secretary’s PS Saiful Islam for allegedly removing files and snatched away her mobile phone. At one stage, she fell sick.
Later, Rozina was handed over to Shahbag Police Station around 8:30 pm. Then, she was shown arrested in a case filed under Official Secrets Act in the midnight.
