Taher Mahmud Tarif is the son of late Abdul Salam and Taslima Khatun at Mashuriapara of Ishwardi  town in Pabna. He is a 10th grader of Sara Marwari Model School and College in the upazila.

Tarif is the younger of two brothers and one sister. On August 2, 2020, his father died due to lack of oxygen. Later, many people died of corona due to lack of oxygen. Those incidents promoted him to take a decision to make a low cost oxygen concentrator.

Tarif succeeded in making the concentrator for the fifth time after trying for about seven months. Earlier, he failed four times.

The device first enters air into a cylinder with the help of a dynamo. Air contains oxygen and other elements which are separated from the air with the help of zeolite. The device is capable of generating about 25 liters of oxygen per minute. It costs Tk 65 thousand to make the machine.

Tarif wanted Tk 15 thousand from his mother to make the machine. His family is always with him in this initiative.

In the meantime, an expert team of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh has seen the invention of Tarif. They have given some observations. Tarif is now working on it.
