Over 600 vehicles waiting to cross river at Paturia Ghat

Over 600 vehicles are waiting at Paturia ferry ghat in Manikganj to cross the Padma River.

Md Zillur Rahman, deputy general manager (DGM) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Aricha office, confirmed the news around 7:30pm on Friday (October 15).

The pressure of vehicles has increased at the ferry ghat due to a ban on heavy vehicles at Shimulia-Banglabazar route.

Shibaloy police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Kabir said, the pressure of private vehicles has also increased manifold due to Durga Puja and weekly holidays.

Besides, around 30 goods-laden truck are waiting to cross the river in the ghat, he added.
