Shimulia-Banglabazar route sees rush of passengers

People are returning to the capital Dhaka after celebrating Eid with their near and dear ones at village homes. Shimulia-Banglabazar route remained busy with people returning to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, many people were seen leaving the capital for their village homes in the southern districts using that river route.

Eighteen ferries were operating on the route since morning to facilitate the crossing of vehicles with passengers. But it was seen that presence of passengers was more than the vehicles arriving at the Banglabazar ferry terminal since early Monday (May 17).

Shafiqul Islam, deputy general manager (commerce) of Shimulia Ghat, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), confirmed the matter.
