Bus service suddenly suspended in Khulna for 24 hours

The Transport Owners Association has decided to abruptly suspend bus services on 18 roads with Khulna.

Transportation will remain suspended for 24 hours starting from 6:00 pm on Friday (February 26) and continuing till 6:00 pm on Saturday (February 27).

Anwar Hossain Sona, joint secretary of Khulna District Bus-Minibus-Coach Owners’ Association, confirmed over the suspension of bus service.

He said BNP’s rally on Saturday could lead to chaos. Therefore, no transport will leave from Khulna for 24 hours, starting from 6:00 pm on Friday and continuing till 6:00 pm on Saturday. No transport will enter the city as well. However, this is not a strike.

On the other hand, Nazrul Islam Monju, president of Khulna Mahanagar BNP, said, “It has been announced to suspend bus, trawler and boat susvice to disrupt the Khulna BNP’s divisional rally on Saturday. Leaders and activists are also being arrested. No matter how many conspiracies and obstructions come, there will be a grand rally at any cost.”

Mentionable, there is a pre-announced programme in Khulna on Saturday (February 27) led by former mayoral candidates in six cities across the country, including a demand for fair and credible elections, protest against cancellation of Ziaur Rahman’s Beer Uttam title and demanding release of Begum Khaleda Zia.
 
BNP Vice Chairman Barrister Shahjahan Omar will attend the rally as the chief guest. BNP senior vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, vice chairman Nitai Roy Chowdhury and joint secretary general Moazzem Hossain Alal will also be special guests in the programme.

Besides, former mayoral candidates of six city corporations of the country will also attended the rally as keynote speakers.
