Minister vows punishment over textbook fiasco

Secretariat Correspondent: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid vowed punishable action against the persons responsible for making mistakes in the textbooks of primary and high schools of the current academic year.
Nahid said, "Punishable action will be taken against those who will be found guilty of making mistakes in the textbooks of primary and high schools of the current academic year."
The minister came up with the warning at a press briefing at the ministry on Tuesday.
The minister said, "Mistakes in the textbooks may happen as the books were printed within a very short time. But those who have done mistakes in the verses of poems are of course incompetent."
I never said that mistakes will not happen. Mistakes may happen but we have to proceed forward by solving those mistakes and we did so in the past, Nahid told the press briefing.
Now we are working to correct the major mistakes. Two responsible persons have already been made OSD. Punishable action will be taken against those who will be found guilty of making mistakes in the textbooks, the minister added.
