Cyclone Remal: The tip reaches the Bangladesh coast

The tip of the cyclone ‘Remal', formed in the Bay of Bengal has reached the coastal line. As a result, stormy winds are blowing with rain in different districts in the country. Already the Sundarbans have been submerged by the tide.

Around 20 villages of Rangabali Upazila, an isolated island of Patuakhali, were flooded. Gusty winds and rain have started lashing the coastal districts.

The cyclone Remal, brought intense winds that reached speeds of up to 90 kilometres (56 miles) per hour, with the potential for even stronger gusts. The seas and rivers of these coastal areas are rough.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone will cross the coastal areas of Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Jhalkathi, Barguna, Barisal, Bhola, and Patuakhali.

Meteorologist Md Manawar Hossain said Payra and Mongla sea ports were asked to hoist danger signal number no ten.

Meanwhile, Cox's Bazar and Chattogram seaports asked to hoist great danger signal number 9.
