Staff Correspondent, GAIBANDHA, Jan 25: Slamming the Jammat-Shibir for post polls violence across the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said those who commit atrocities will not be spared and will be brought to justice.

The premier came up with the warning while sharing views with the victims of the post polls violence at Gaibandha Circuit House auditorium this noon.

Sheikh Hasina handed over cheques among the victims or their family members.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Gaibandha by a helicopter at 12:50pm.

The BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the latter’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir had unleashed violence in the district surrounding the January 5 election.

She is expected to address a public meeting, organised by the district Awami League (AL), at Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium later in the afternoon.

Before the meeting, the AL chief will also unveil the plaques of seven completed projects and lay foundation of nine new projects.

Hasina is to be back to Dhaka in the afternoon.

The PM had earlier visited Satkhira and Jessore and promised to stand by the violence-hit Hindus there.
