Music composer Alauddin Ali no more

Eminent music director, composer, and lyricist Alauddin Ali has died at Universal Medical College Hospital in the capital's Mohakhali.

He breathed his last at 5:50 pm on Sunday (August 9), Ashish Chakrabarty, Managing Director of the hospital confirmed.

Alauddin Ali was suffering from blood infection and lung disease. He was admitted to a hospital on Saturday in critical condition. Later, he was kept in life support.

He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director five times for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jogajog (1988) and Lakhe Ekta (1990). His popular music include - "O Amar Bangla Ma Tor...", "Surjodoye Tumi Surjastheo Tumi...", "Emono To Prem Hoy...", "Achen Amar Muktar...", "Bondhu Tindin Tor Bari Gelam...", Jetuku Somoy Tumi Thako Pashe...".
